Keep Moving

North Americans sit around a lot more than we used to—and during the pandemic, even more so. We're taking more naps, spending more time prone on couches, and being idle. But experts say it's aging us faster and will lead to a shorter life span. 

According to a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine, people who spent at least 12.5 hours per day sitting have the highest risk of death from any cause. What can you do if you're working in front of a computer or doing almost anything that requires a sedentary position?

Stand up and move around every 30 minutes—try to get your heart beating for a minute, whether you walk to refill your water bottle or up and down a flight of stairs—anything to get your blood pumping a little.
